12 GoodGymers made their way to help the Friends of Ham Lands in Richmond.

It was a glorious sunny morning on Ham Lands as 12 (count 'em - TWELVE!) GoodGymers from Richmond, Hounslow and Ealing gathered for the monthly session supporting the Friends of Ham Lands in their conservation work efforts. Maybe it was the weather forecast which brought so many out, or could it have had something to do with a trip to the Swiss bakery afterwards? Either way it was fantastic to see a big bunch of great people getting together to do some good.
Sharon gave us a bit of background and information on the Ham Lands area, including telling us that local residents used to swim in the gravel pits that were once on the site, before we grabbed the rakes she had brought and headed along the path to the area of focus for the day.
Once there the group spread out and started raking the muddy grass which had formed in clods on the surface since the area was mowed recently. Our job was to clear it all up and use sacks to carry it to behind the tree line where we could deposit it. With so many people on hand the task was quickly dealt with and people's minds started turning to the delights of the Swiss bakery.
We will be back again on the second Saturday of next month, which is 12th November - sign up here! https://www.goodgym.org/v3/sessions/helping-the-happy-ham-landers-cdc7d231-44f2-4f4b-aa24-30152b1dfbc3
