Report written by Katie Carew-Robinson (she/her)
We had a great time at the Fitness Festival in Southsea....
Angela, Jo North and Katie arrived early to set up. Katie got the bike trailer out of retirement and made it down in one piece and Angela put all those functional fit classes to good use carrying the gazebo down from her house to the seafront. Some excellent teamwork and it was soon up along with a picnic table, flag and 2 GG T-shirts adorning its sides.
Our first good deed of the day was to support the Sea Shore Shuffle family fun run, hosted by Believe & Achieve. The red t-shirts were out in force, pointing runners the right way, making sure they zigzagged up and down the beach and Castle Field hills and ran through the Southsea Castle fountains. Lots of clapping and encouragement all round!
Tony was left "manning" the stand and chatting to people who showed an interest - lots of people have now heard of us which is great that we are getting pretty well known in the local area.
Then it was all back to the gazebo for a quick cuppa before the run to the beach clean.
Later at the Fitness Festival Dr Jo & Sam got a chance to chat to local hero Lauren Steadman: world paratriathlon champion & silver medalist at the Rio paralympic plus of course 2018 Strictly contestant!
Thanks to Jo North and Dr Jo for the photos today. Lots of gooduns!
