Food Glorious Food

Monday 11th December 2023

Written by Emily (She/her)

20 of us turned up to help Keith at the Norwich Foodbank. Robert led the runners from the Forum, and we welcomed one new GoodGymer, Diana.

We quickly got to work – Keith sent some of us over to the other side of the warehouse, while Bill, our very own GoodGymer who also regularly volunteers at the foodbank, managed those of us that were sorting donations.

We sorted hundreds of tins of beans, spaghetti, vegetables and more, and we only had two spillages!

Time went by so fast. Its such a satisfying task getting everything in order, knowing that we’re playing a part in helping people get healthy, satisfying food – with a few treats thrown in, of course! Rachel even said that she wishes her day job was more like this as you really feel like you’ve accomplished something.

After just 45 minutes we’d achieved so much. Keith thanked us for our help – the donations we were sorting were bought by the Trussel Trust with financial donations, as they’ve seen a drop in physical donations at supermarkets.

After a few group photos, we all departed knowing we’d all done a good job!

A very enjoyable Santa Dash and Fun Run hosted by Boghopper Races.

Two Goodgymers took part, Marshalling at a turning point and a road crossing, everyone was in amazing costumes and Santa suits, from Turkeys, to Presents to many elves.

There were a lot of fast runners in the 2k as well and afterwards we tidied up and headed back to the finish line where lots of runners were enjoying some festive cheer after the run. NB monday night Noreich Goodgym went to Norwich Foodbank and sorted the food gifted at this Santa Run

Running out of (sugar) puff

Monday 17th April 2023

Written by Ian Gostling

Tonight 15 GoodGymers ran 6km to the Norwich foodbank to support the Trussel Trust.

Keith was on hand to deliver instructions on which donations needed sorting. Shout out to Martin attending his first GoodGym task tonight.

This week we had shampoo's to clean and unpack, cardboard packing to be moved and all other items to placed in date order.

With less donations than expected at this time of year, we had completed the task in 40mins. So we finished with a group photo, and headed back in different directions.

Best of luck to Woody running the London Marathon on Sunday!!
