The final days of January and our last effort at getting empty tubs to various Greene King Pubs for their recycling and charity scheme. I canโt believe that we were still able to track down some empty tubs, but the good people of Luton and Dunstable seem to still be polishing off their Christmas goodies, including Duncanโs family who have at last finished the tub of Jacobs Crackers.
Ellaโs netball team provided her with a boot full of tubs, thatโs a lot of jumping around they will need to do to burn off all that chocolate. Pam took a stroll up to the Hungry Horse and created a Tub2Pub Jenga with Duncanโs Cracker tub. Gill found herself passing the Red Lion in Stevenage on her walk to the physiotherapist, so she ran back to her car to fetch the tub and deliver it. Charmaine and Martin pared up to deliver a tub of Roses to the Biscot Mill while Neil and Sheets went to The Anchor with their Heroes Tubs.
Hopefully we have now cleared up all the empty tubs from our friends and family and have made a fabulous contribution to the Greene King Macmillan/Recycling Scheme.
Well done to everyone who participated this year.

8 if Luton Goodgyms finest came out to support the Friends of Leagrave Park along with Kevin from ABCD-IN-LUTON for the first litterpickof 2025. The members from the local community made the numbers up to 14 attendees and as ever we found an eclectic mix of rubbish ๐ in the hour and a half we were there. A bread basket, a tyre and the rear windscreen of a car to go with the 24 bags of rubbish we all collected, but for me the most interesting find was a bollard from a local car park. it was heavy but I managed to move it to a place it can be collected by the council and returned to its rightful place. Shockingly Omar found a knife which Kevin from ABCD-IN-LUTON has dealt with in the appropriate manner. Great effort as ever team. Well done ๐

10 of Luton Goodgyms elite, helped the Friends of Leagrave Park with their last litterpick of 2024. We were joined by members of the local community and 2 special guests as Father Christmas and Spiderman joined the volunteers. As ever the haul was hefty, 27 bags of waste collected with the usual intriguing odds and sods. A car tyre, a shopping trolley (of course), and a cool Thunderbirds action figure. Duncan deserves a massive shout out for pulling on the waders and getting into the river Lea to grab rubbish we feel like we've been looking at for months. Great effort team ๐ You are all amazing ๐

it was the final session from this season's cooking and community sessions at the Gurudwara and once again Goodgymers were on hand to enable the success if the evening - welcoming, hosting, cooking and washing up alongside the women in the temple to provide and enjoy a delicious meal. The meal started with crispy cauliflower pakora which we all enjoyed, before getting stuck into the various tasks. There was chick pea curry to prepare, a vegetable pilau, and of course a larhe mountain of rotis which we are getting quite good at now. There were many guests from across the community including the High Sheriff of Bedfodshire. Well done team, it was a lovely evening for all. We shall miss our Monday nights...

Tonight the Shri Guru Ravidass Sangat temple in Luton held their 3rd curry cooking class as part of the near neighbours funded project they are currently running. 9 of Luton Goodgyms finest were there to support with hosting the event. Preparing, cooking and eating food as well as washing up and tidying away. Everyone got stuck in from buttering roti to laying out plates, there was a job for everyone.
