Liz, Sarah & Elizabeth arrived at the task and after taking a bit of time to find the exact location we finally found Jen who showed us the disused compost area to be dug up, and wheelbarrowed into the waiting skip. We all got stuck in and soon worked up a sweat, after about 40 minutes of none stop digging, Jen offered us juice and biscuits, before we carried on with the task in hand. Plenty of tree roots in the area Sarah was digging were soon taken up with the help of a pair of loppers, and plenty of elbow grease. We saw lots of insects and bugs (see photos) mostly from the rotten wood surrounding the compost area, remnants of an old carpet laid in layers through the heap, some large screws, a plastic child’s tea cup , potatoes were a few of the unusual objects found amongst the earth. After two hours of solid work we finally had a lovely flat area that the School hopes to grass over. Job done we said goodbye to Jen who’d worked solidly with us and was very pleased and thankful for Goodgyms help. Sarah was supposed to go onto her fitness class but reckoned she’d already had a brilliant workout as had all of us. I went home for a lay down . Another mission accomplished in true GoodGym style
