Let's start the report with an African Proverb:

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

Very relevant for this week's birthday celebration run.

Lots of the GoodGym Portsmouth team went out to add their miles to our target of running an ultramarathon as a team (this is any distance further than a marathon).... we smashed it!

The total distance run was a whopping 175 miles!

Excellent team work! There are a few special mentions along the way:

  • Jo G, joining in from GG Liverpool, her planned 5km was cut short when she stopped to provide first aid to a man who had collapsed and had to call an ambulance (GoodGym in action!)
  • Vicki, whose run included deliveries of flowers, rhubarb and a 21st birthday present - making people smile and getting fit at the same time
  • Catherine who got pooed on by a bird during her run - who was it who decided that was lucky?
  • Jen who ran in the dark of night and got stung when having a pee in a bush (we've all been there!!)
  • Angela who ran half marathon distance made up of loops on the common & inadvertently made some slightly rude looking strava art! ๐Ÿ†
  • Maura who stopped to make some beach art, which I've chosen for our cover picture.
  • Rosie for running 3.3 miles in her garden!

We also learnt this week that we share our birthday week with Katie P's twins who also turn 2 this week. They are GoodGym runners in training as they get taken out on lots of runs in the double buggy! They get a pic in the report too just for choosing to come into the world when we did.

Thanks for contributing to the birthday ultra and hopefully we can all run together again in real life some day soon!
