Pirates save plastic from the sea!

Saturday 2nd November 2024

Written by Katie London

Avast, me hearties! Two brave goodgymers and four wee buccaneers set sail on Southsea Beach, scouring for treasures! They plundered the sands and found all manner of junk—newspapers, rockets, and crisp packets, oh me! Not to mention string, rope, and lollypop sticks, all saved from the belly of the deep! With each find, they kept fish from getting a taste of the trashy treasure. A jolly good haul, aye, for the love of the sea!

Blowing Balls and Bags

Saturday 6th July 2024

Written by Dave M

Team GG joined forces with Southsea Beachwatch on a very windy morning to clear rubbish and assist them with their litter survey. We did feel like boats when the wind caught the binbags and turned them into sails!

A very warm welcome to Andy on their first task. Was awesome to meet you and have a good chat about Pompey and the area.

Happy to report that the beach was relatively tidy! Maybe down to the amazing British weather keeping people away! There were a number of golf balls found which impressed us as they had cleared the course fence, the road and the prom! That must have been some hit!!

Wind of change

Saturday 7th January 2023

Written by Sinéad McCarthy (she/her)

A very windy beach clean! Lots of chasing rubbish. Wilson was very happy finding a toy chicken foot. Ellie made after tail walking in havant. Judy nearly got hit in the face by some soggy trunks. Lots of small bits of plastic and sweet wrappers.
