All Aboard Club
This morning we were back in Brookwood at the All Aboard Club helping set up a big train track for kids to enjoy. 😀
We welcomed Charlotte who is a Member of Goodgym Richmond. Charlotte has met some of our Woking GG members at the Martian Race a few years ago. Charlotte has recently moved to the area so hopefully we will be seeing more of her 😀 It was also great to see Claire back and what a great task to come back to. Wayne was pretty tired after completing a 10k run this morning but along with Richard (Mr All Aboard) and the group got stuck in. We all took up positions in different areas of the hall and started to lay the tracks. We were also joined by other volunteers doing their DofE which was fantastic.
In no time we had between us all made a very complex looking track with many twists and turns 🚂 which i am sure the kids will love.
Another great morning. Hope to see you all on Wednesday when we will be doing a leaflet drop for Sam Beare Hospice...😀

Alys (and Quinn), Clare, Claire, Julie, Nadia and Anne were welcomed by Claud at the RSPCA in Chobham before tackling the invasion of brambles and nettles in the dogs's compounds.
The main gate being locked, Claud showed us the way to two other dogs's compounds where our help was needed. Nadia had warned us she was delayed, so Anne offered to go back to the car park and show her the new route. Unfortunately for Nadia, Anne, being jet-lagged -good excuse to diminish her complete lack of orienteering-, could not remember the way to the new compounds where the rest of the team was already clearing the borders of unwanted plants. Thank goodness, Alys came to the rescue, so the day was saved!
We all got stung by nettles, pricked by thistles and scratched by brambles, but managed to make quite a difference to both areas and filled up 3 big bags. Well done to all!
On Sunday, a group of us will help at junior parkrun, will you join in? Or you could run with us next Wednesday when we will be "leafletting" to advertise the good work done by GoodGym!
In the meantime, enjoy your runs!
Wednesday 24th July
Claire earned their community cape by completing their first community mission.
Claire completed a community mission. Instead of watching TV or lying in bed, Claire was out there making their community a better place to be. For making that choice they have earned the community cape.

Five GoodGymers attended this evening’s task to tidy up some gardens at Saint Saviour’s, Brookwood.
Firstly, a very warm welcome to Claire who joined us on her inaugural mission. It was great to have you join us. We look forward to seeing you again soon and you being part of GoodGym Woking.
Adam, Julie and Claire arrived and cracked on with the task at hand at Saint Saviour’s, Brookwood. Meanwhile, just a few kilometres away at Holy Trinity, Katie and Nadia were wondering where everybody else was 🤣 After some deliberation and thinking they were taking great initiative, Nadia and Katie started some weeding and cleared the front bed in the car park. The mystery of absence continued and really at this point, divine intervention was needed, which came in the form of James a.k.a. Sherlock, who established that Katie Strava had taken her to Holy Trinity rather than Saint Saviour’s. Wayne also did some detective work🕵️♀️ and quickly established after a phone call with Adam that Katie and Nadia were in the wrong location!
So after driving a few kilometres down the road, Katie and Nadia saw the rest of the GoodGymmers and Nick from Saint Saviour’s. Hurrah!
Adam, Julie and Claire had done a fantastic job tidying the front bed, and trimming the long side hedge which was looking sharp Katie and Nadia joined in for the final tasks and a huge wheelie bin was filled showing just how much had been achieved. Another fulfilling task with a great green-fingered bunch.
Just don’t bet on our geography skills…😀
